CAR. On vehicles other than those authorised by art. 38 of Presidential Decree No. 320, of 8 February 1954, you can have maximum one pet at the time in your car, making sure they do not cause danger or any impediment to the driver. You can transport more than one pet only if they are secured in an adequate cage or container, or in the boot of the car, if separated by a net or other appropriate solution, which if installed permanently in the car, must be approved by the competent Office for Civil Motoring and Transport Concessions.
MOTORBIKE On the vehicles mentioned in paragraph 1 (motorbikes and two-wheel vehicles) you cannot transport any objects that are not safely secured, stick out more than 50 cm on either side or end of the vehicles, or obstruct or limit the driver's view. Within these limits, you may transport your pet on your motorbike, in a kennel or other container.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT In this case, regulations vary from town to town. When pets are allowed on public transport (buses and underground trains), you may or may not have to pay a ticket. As they are public places, lead and muzzle are compulsory. In general, there are no restrictions for guide dogs (except in cases of overcrowded public vehicles). You are always required to clean after your pets.
